| On 19 March, M6 launched its new-generation TV in the form of M6 Replay, which will enable viewers to watch M6 programmes for free on the Internet at any time for 7 days after their first airing.
Nicolas de Tavernost, Chairman of the Board of the Groupe M6, said: “The launch of this new service, which is a real first for a leading French channel, is a major watershed, marking the group’s desire to monitor and respond to new ways of consuming TV. It also constitutes a natural step forward for our channels and reflects our ambitions on the Internet”.
M6 Replay enables viewers to watch (or re-watch) any M6 programmes whenever and however often they want for at least 7 days after being broadcast. Programmes will normally become available on M6 Replay 1 hour after being aired. M6 Replay is a free (rather than a subscription-only) service, and users will not have to register, enter passwords or pre-install any software before using it. The broadcasts available on M6 Replay will include all M6’s best programmes and virtually everything that the channel airs between 18.00 and midnight. The service will start operating on 19 March, with programmes becoming available on the website www.m6replay.fr to anyone with Internet access.
M6 Web CEO Valéry Gerfaud said: “The M6 Group has always been a pioneer on the Internet. Today, with M6 Replay, we are continuing in that vein. We opted to make M6’s programmes available on demand free of charge, using a model financed by advertising, so that the service would become accessible to as many people as possible”. |
